The Covering Your Health podcast is back with an all-new episode, this time welcoming members of the Inland Empire Health Plan family to the mic.

Host Evelyn Erives is joined by Melika Giles, a claims processor for the health plan, and Regan Kelso, an IEHP community health worker, who speak about their own personal journeys navigating breast cancer, from Giles’ current battle with the disease to Kelso’s work in the community supporting cancer patients of all ages.

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in the U.S., and accounts for about 30%—or 1 in 3—of all new female cancers each year.

In 2024, the American Cancer Society estimates:

  • About 310,720 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women.
  • About 56,500 new cases of ductal carcinoma in situ (DICS) will be diagnosed.
  • And about 42,250 women will die from breast cancer.

New episodes of Covering Your Health are available on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts. You can also view the conversation below.
