Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) will host free well-child mobile clinics at the health plan’s Community Wellness Centers in Riverside, San Bernardino and Victorville.

Clinics will continue through April in partnership with ULS AllCare and are open to IEHP members of two years of age up to 21 who meet program criteria. Well-child visits include physical and blood pressure screenings, eye exams, fluoride treatments and diabetic management assessments. IEHP members may schedule visits or walk in during clinic hours.

“Well-child visits should be as routine as brushing one’s teeth, and that education should start as soon as possible,” said IEHP Chief Medical Officer Dr. Takashi Wada. “When a child reaches important health milestones, our care teams want to be there for each step of the way.”

IEHP Director of Community Wellness Centers Delia Orosco agreed. “Our centers’ mission is to support educating the public on the importance of staying healthy, so it leads to longer, productive lives,” she said. “Last year’s breast cancer mobile clinic series showed the impact these events have on the community’s overall health.”

A successful mobile clinic pilot program last fall set in motion the extended partnership between IEHP and ULS AllCare. Of 100 appointments scheduled for the well-child clinic on Dec. 20, nearly 50 were completed, with each child receiving one-on-one attention from ULS staff.

“Our work in closing care gaps for members includes finding ways to make well-child visits accessible for parents,” said IEHP Director of Quality Improvement Tara Tokijkla. “These clinics are not only an opportunity to connect our community to key health screenings, but also to the importance of getting preventive care at an early age.”
